September 18, 1953 – May 7, 2023
Sandra Faye Jones, 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Sheridan on Sunday morning, May 7, 2023. Born September 18, 1953, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Geneva Elaine (Wells) Jones.
After graduating from Carthage High School, Sandra went on to graduate from Barber College, and later from Kay’s Beauty College. For many years she worked as a licensed beautician and barber, garnering a loyal following of customers throughout her career.
She was a member of the Noblesville Church of the Nazarene and was currently attending the Sheridan First United Methodist Church. As a devoted Christian, she felt very strongly about taking an active role within her church family, as well as giving back to the community that she called home. Working with the church’s lunch program and preschool classes gave her a real sense of purpose and helped her to find other avenues in which to volunteer within the communities that she loved. Serving and helping others was Sandra’s true calling in life.
When it was time to relax, Sandra found activities that let her explore the great outdoors. Sometimes that meant fussing around with her flowers or puttering around in the garden, and other times she was content just laying out on the beach or taking a relaxing boat ride. But the place where she was the happiest was on the back of her bike. Sandra was a Harley girl and never passed up an opportunity to hit the open road, with a little Rod Stewart blasting from the speakers and the unmistakable rumble of her Hog. She also enjoyed getting back to nature and always looked forward to her next camping trip.
Sandra is survived by her two sons, Jeremy William McCubbins and Joshua Edgar McCubbins, both of Sheridan; two grandchildren, Logan U. McCubbins (Maggie) of Sheridan and Christian W. McCubbins of Noblesville; one great-grandchild, Vincent McCubbins; three brothers, Larry Blankenship, Terry Blankenship, and Gary Jones; two sisters, Laura Elaine Moore and Tammy Jo Reynolds (and best brother-in-law ever, Bryan Reynolds); many nieces and nephews, starting with Tabatha McKenney, and everyone that followed; and by her black cat, Athena, and her two grand-furbabies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William B. and Geneva Elaine (Wells) Jones; and by her brother, Chuck Jones.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from noon until the time of service. Pastor John Meunier will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to Kercheval Funeral Home, P.O. Box 42, Sheridan, IN 46069, to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.
