The IHSAA announced the sectional pairings for its baseball and softball tournaments on Sunday.
Baseball
Carmel will host Class 4A Sectional 8 this year at Hartman Field. The Greyhounds will host Zionsville in the first game, to be played at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24. Fishers and Noblesville will follow that game, with first pitch around 7:45 p.m.
The semifinals take place on Saturday, May 27. The Wednesday winners will play each other in the first game at 10 a.m., followed by the second semifinal between Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield at 12:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Monday, May 29 at noon.
Guerin Catholic and Hamilton Heights both play in Class 3A Sectional 27 at Bishop Chatard, a five-team site. The Golden Eagles take on Brebeuf Jesuit in the first round. In the semifinals, Hamilton Heights takes on Shortridge, with the host Trojans playing the Guerin Catholic-Brebeuf winner.
Sheridan and University travel to Cascade for Class 2A Sectional 43. The first-round games will see Cardinal Ritter play Riverside, then the Blackhawks take on the host Cadets.
The first-round winners will play in the first semifinal game, with University playing Covenant Christian in the second semifinal.
Softball
Noblesville will host Sectional 8 in softball this year. In first-round games, Fishers will play Hamilton Southeastern to open the tournament at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 22. Carmel and Westfield play after that, starting around 7:30 p.m.
In the semifinals, Zionsville takes on the Tigers-Royals winner at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, with Noblesville playing the Greyhounds-Shamrocks winner at 7:30 p.m. that night. The championship game is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25.
Guerin Catholic and Hamilton Heights will play at Sectional 27, a five-team sectional which takes place at Bishop Chatard. The Huskies play Shortridge in the first-round game. The Golden Eagles will play the Trojans in the first semifinal, with Brebeuf Jesuit playing the Heights-Shortridge winner in the second semifinal.
Sheridan will compete in Sectional 43 at Cascade. The Blackhawks play the first-round game against Cardinal Ritter. The first semifinal will see Riverside take on the host Cadets, with Covenant Christian playing the Ritter-Sheridan winner.
