Dear Editor:

As the election for mayor of Westfield draws near, now is the time to take a closer look at the candidates running for the office.

One candidate in particular stands out for her experience in executive leadership, her commitment to the community, and her unwavering dedication to making Westfield a better place for all its citizens. That candidate is Kristen Burkman.

Kristen is a former executive for Delta Faucet, is currently serving on the Advisory Plan Commission, and is completing her doctorate in leadership and organizational innovation this summer. Kristen has the knowledge, the skills, and the expertise to effectively lead Westfield to greater prosperity.

Kristen has a data-driven vision for Westfield’s future. Her vision prioritizes economic development, job growth, and the well-being of its residents. She understands the importance of fostering a strong business climate to attract new companies with higher wage jobs, while also ensuring the city’s infrastructure and resources are available to support the needs of its citizens.

Kristen’s commitment to Westfield is evident through her volunteerism and involvement with local organizations. She has worked to improve the quality of life for residents of all ages from advocating for better schools to supporting initiatives that address the needs of senior citizens.

I have been a Westfield resident for almost two decades, and I have known Kristen since both our kids were in Kindergarten together (our kids are in college now). Kristen is an independent thinker and a political outsider with the temperament and pragmatism required for the job. Under Kristen’s leadership Westfield will be a city where everyone has a voice and a stake in the future.
