The City of Westfield, Westfield Washington Township, and the Westfield Chamber of Commerce have announced events in Westfield in conjunction with the Hamilton County Bicentennial.
The Hamilton County Bicentennial commemorates the county’s 200 years of history and takes place throughout 2023. The month of June is designated as the celebration of Washington township.
“The collaboration with the Township, the Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society, and the Hamilton County Bicentennial Commission to bring a series of free events to celebrate 200 years is quite the achievement,” Mayor Andy Cook said . “This is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, and we are proud to host these events in the heart of our downtown at Grand Junction Plaza.”

Thursday, June 1
Westfield Farmers Market
The Westfield Farmers Market, produced by Downtown Westfield Association, lasts from 5 until 8 p.m. at Grand Junction Plaza. Join local farmers and artisan vendors each week.
Westfield High School’s American Pie: Reprise
Westfield High School’s American Pie concert reminds everyone how much WHS rocks. This themed concert takes the audience on a journey through history via music. The theme for this year is “I’m going back to Indiana.” The student performers and the school’s professional house band, led by Mr. Jeff McLaughlin, are top tier. This free concert will be a reprise of the May fundraiser. Merchandise will be available for purchase. The show begins at 6 p.m., and a free parking shuttle will be available.
While the concert is free, VIP Packages are available and include a 10-by-10-foot reserved area on the Great Lawn for up to four people, two commemorative bicentennial blankets, a Hamilton County Bicentennial cooler bag, and a graze box from 317 Charcuterie for $200.
Other activities at Grand Junction Plaza include free airbrush tattoos, the Hamilton County Bicentennial Traveling Exhibit, and learning about the oldest tree in Westfield.
Friday, June 2
Pancakes on Park
Head over to Park Street at 8 a.m. for breakfast with the Westfield Fire Department on Friday morning. Enjoy pancakes, sausage, coffee, and juice while dining al fresco. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door; this event is open to the public, and businesses are encouraged to bring their employees for a team breakfast. Two levels of sponsored tables are available for purchase, starting at $100 per table.
Bicentennial Kick-Off Concert
Three-time BMA nominee The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band is “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world” and will take the main stage at Grand Junction Plaza on Friday at 7 p.m. Local recording artist Kassey King will open the show at 6 p.m. A free parking shuttle will be available for the evening. Saturday, June 3
The Westfield Washington Historical Society (WWHS) will hold its ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on the Barker Log Cabin, 136 Penn St. The cabin was originally built in 1835 by Nicholas Barker.
Beginning at 11 a.m., WWHS will host numerous food trucks, pony rides, a small car and fire truck show, a dunk tank, and a photo booth. The Rusty Musket band will be playing folk songs, old sea shanties, and music from the past with their four-piece band. All festivities will occur near WWHS and Westfield City Hall. 130 Penn St. All events are free and open to the public.
