Baseball: Tigers start strong, end strong during Tennessee travels

The Fishers baseball team went 2-2 during its Tennessee trip last week.

The Tigers began last Friday with a 13-1, five-inning victory over Briarcrest Christian. Fishers got on the board with five runs in the second inning and never looked back. Caulin Brown hit two home runs, while Jack Brown smacked a triple and a double. Noah McPeek was 3-for-3, including a double, with Evan Doran hitting a double as well.

Jack Brown pitched all five innings, striking out four.

Fishers played a second game last Friday, falling to Oakland (Tenn.) 4-2 in a five-inning contest.

The Tigers scored one run in the top of the first inning. Carson Dunn led off with a triple and was eventually batted in by Gavin Clayton. Oakland scored three runs in the second inning, keeping the lead from that point forward. Fishers got its second run in the fourth inning; Gavin Kuzniewski doubled and was later batted in by McPeek.

Jack Brown was 2-for-3 at the plate. Ben Hammond pitched three innings, tossing four strikeouts.

The Tigers were back in action last Saturday morning, but fell in their first game, 7-0 to Clarksville (Tenn.)

Jack Brown and Hammond both had two hits, with one of Brown’s hits a double. Kyle Manship threw six strikeouts in four innings.

Fishers finished Saturday play with an 8-5 win over McCracken County.

The Tigers scored their first run in the top of the second inning when Huston Dunn doubled in Caulin Brown, who later cracked a solo home run in the fourth inning to give Fishers a 2-0 lead.

Carson Dunn led off the fifth inning with a double, and was later scored by Clayton. In the sixth inning, Huston Dunn scored after Hammond reached on error, then Hammond later got home on another error.

The Tigers finished the game with three runs in the seventh inning. Quinn Seefeldt doubled home Jack Brown and Clayton, then Huston Dunn’s center field hit scored Seefeldt.

Caulin Brown and Huston Dunn both finished the two hits. Kuzniewski got the pitching win, with 10 strikeouts over five innings.

Fishers is 3-2 for the season and begins Hoosier Crossroads Conference play Thursday at Zionsville.
