The Carmel boys volleyball team opened its season last Saturday by hosting its own Invitational.
The Greyhounds went 3-1 for the event. Carmel swept Southport 25-21, 25-20 and Lafayette Jefferson 25-22, 25-17, then came back to beat Bishop Chatard 19-25, 26-24, 15-12. The ‘Hounds then fell to Brebeuf Jesuit 25-22, 25-15.
Carmel dropped a hard-fought match at Cathedral on Wednesday, 25-24, 25-15, 25-12. The Greyhounds play tonight at Park Tudor.

Noblesville opened its season Tuesday against Brebeuf Jesuit, and fell to the Braves 25-10, 25-20, 25-17.
Senior Austin Shaw served nine points and dished out six assists. Senior Ethan Barrow had five blocks and two kills, and counted two aces among his four service points.
