IHSAA announces boys sectional pairings

The IHSAA announced the sectional pairings for its boys basketball tournament on Sunday.

First-round games take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and Wednesday, March 1, with the semi-finals at all sites scheduled for Friday, March 3. The championship games take place Saturday, March 4.

Carmel will host Class 4A Sectional 8 at the Eric Clark Activity Center. The Greyhounds will be part of the opening game on Tuesday, hosting Westfield in a 6 p.m. tip off. Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Noblesville drew a bye and will take on the Carmel-Westfield winner in the semi-finals. Zionsville got the other bye, and plays the Fishers-Southeastern winner in the other semi-final game.

Hamilton Heights travels to New Castle for Class 3A Sectional 24. The Huskies drew the bye in this seven-team sectional, and will play the winner of Tuesday’s game between Delta and Centerville in the semi-finals. The other first-round games will take place Wednesday, March 1. Frankton plays Jay County, and Yorktown takes on New Castle.

Guerin Catholic heads to Shortridge next week to play in Class 3A Sectional 27. The Golden Eagles also drew a bye, and will await the winner of Tuesday’s Heritage Christian-Brebeuf Jesuit first-round game.  The other first-round game will be contested between Bishop Chatard and Herron, with the winner taking on Shortridge in the semi-finals.

Sheridan and University play at Class 2A Sectional 43 in Cascade, a five-team sectional. The Blackhawks and the Trailblazers will play each other in the lone first-round game, with tips off at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner plays Cascade in the semi-finals, after the first semi-final between Covenant Christian and Park Tudor.
