Food drive will restock local pantries after busy holiday season

The City of Fishers will expand its annual MLK Day celebration in 2023 with a community-wide food drive on Monday, Jan. 16. In addition, the city will host volunteer opportunities throughout the holiday weekend to encourage residents to give back during the National Day of Service.

With local food pantries experiencing an increase in demand and decrease in supply after the busy holiday season, the City of Fishers has partnered with Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County to replenish these resources. On Monday, Jan. 16, food donations will be collected with a Pack the Bus event at eight Fishers park properties in conjunction with Hamilton Southeastern Schools, and at the city’s three Kroger stores between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Residents can also order donations and have them delivered directly to the city through an Amazon Wish List. A list of donation needs is available for ThisIsFishers.com/MLK.

This event is supported by partners Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County, Memory Ventures, Kroger, and HSE Schools.

Food drop locations include:

  • Brooks School Park: 11780 Brooks School Road
  • Cyntheanne Park: 12383 Cyntheanne Road
