Noblesville boys bounce back to beat Muncie Central

The Noblesville boys basketball team scored a bounce-back win last Saturday, beating Muncie Central 57-45 at The Mill.

The Millers led 15-12 after one quarter, with Luke Almodovar scoring six of those points. Noblesville then ramped up its defense in the second period, allowing the Bearcats only six points. The Millers poured in 16 points in that quarter, giving them a 31-18 halftime lead. Justin Curry came off the bench to hit two 3-pointers.

Muncie Central rolled through the third period, outscoring the Millers 19-7. That cut Noblesville’s lead to 38-37. But the Millers responded and pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bearcats 21-8. Aaron Fine stepped up with eight points, including a 6-of-6 effort from the free-throw line.

Fine finished the game with 17 points, followed by Almodovar with 14. Seven Millers scored: Cooper Bean had seven points, Curry and Luke Etchison each added six points, Hunter Walston scored five and Preston Roberts had four points.

The Millers are 8-3 and play two games this weekend. Noblesville hosts Zionsville Friday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls-boys doubleheader, then plays Saturday at Connersville.
