John P. DeLucia has announced his candidacy for the Fishers City Council District 3 seat.
DeLucia is a longtime resident of Fishers, raising his children, and now grandchildren while contributing to the community along the way. The primary for this city council seat will be held in May 2023, with the general election falling in early November.
“I have long recognized Fishers as a great place to live and work,” DeLucia said. “I chose to settle here with my family and I want to bring that experience to the city council, as well as a vision for the future to encourage others to join our community. I try to serve others in all that I do, and that is just the type of attitude I will carry with me to the Fishers City Council.”
DeLucia has previously served on the Hamilton Southeastern School Board for eight years, as well as being voted the OneZone Chamber of Commerce Most Valuable Volunteer for 2017.
He has raised his children in the community of Fishers, buying his first home here in 1993. He has been extremely involved in his community as a whole, acting as a coach to hundreds of local children in baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball over the years. He has also been a role model for high schoolers in the community, with his work in the Youth Mentoring Initiative, as well as the HSE High School Finance Academy.
He has spent his life working mostly in the business and financial sectors and has served as the Chief Lending Officer at Citizens State Bank since 2013.
When asked why he wants to run, DeLucia said, “For me it’s all about finding a new way to support my community. I previously served on the school board, and now my goal is to help grow Fishers, while fostering our important existing relationships with our small and medium sized businesses.”
DeLucia has served the community and country through his service in the Navy, work on the school board, charitable organization involvement, and local mentoring work. He graduated from Indiana University with his bachelor’s degree, and with honors from the Defense Language Institute while in the Navy.
