Carmel moved itself up to the top of the Metropolitan Conference on Friday by beating North Central 63-48 at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
A fast start propelled the Greyhounds to victory: Carmel led 17-3 after the first quarter. The ‘Hounds were ahead 36-18 at halftime and held on to that margin for the second half.
John Michael Mulloy had a solid game, leading the scoring with 19 points and the boards with eight rebounds. Mulloy also handed out four assists. Cole Jenkins added 13 points and dished out five assists, while Andrew Owens scored 10. Luke Heady and Jalen Whack both grabbed five rebounds.
The Greyhounds are 2-0 in the MIC and 4-2 overall. Carmel will be back home in the Eric Clark Activity Center tonight for a huge game: New Albany and superstar Romeo Langford will be in town. The Bulldogs are ranked fourth in Class 4A and are 5-1 for the season. As of Friday night, about 400 tickets remained for the game.
