Harold I. “Steve” Stevens

November 21, 1938 – December 8, 2022

Harold I. “Steve” Stevens, 84, Tipton, and formerly of Arcadia, passed away at 5:18 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at home. Steve was born in Tipton County on November 21, 1938, to John F. & Edna M. (Hines) Stevens. On July 5, 1991, he married Faye (Brooks) Ogden and she preceded him in death on January 4, 2018.

Steve had worked at Steel Parts Corporation in Tipton, retiring in 2001. He was an elder and a member at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Arcadia. He enjoyed golf, playing whenever he found the time. Steve was a fan of IU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, and he enjoyed traveling. He was a former member of the Arcadia Lions Club.

Survivors include his four children, Jenny Kronenberg and husband Tim of Noblesville, Dee Shepherd and husband Brian of Aurora, Colo., Randy Stevens and wife Lisa of Cicero, and Elana Stevens of Cicero; three stepchildren, Theresa Louthen and husband Willie of Tipton, Clyde Ogden and wife Sally of Roswell, Ga., and Michael Ogden of Bloomington.

He has six grandchildren, Jacob Shepherd and wife Chloe, Max Shepherd, Joshua Stevens and wife Kayla, Chelsey Stevens, Luke Rhinebarger, and Hank Rhinebarger. Steve also has 12 step-grandchildren, Mick Genereaux, Austin Kane, Sierra Kane and Ian Kane, Laitham Louthen and wife Samantha, Colby Louthen, Alana Ogden, Megan Ogden, Marshall Ogden, Alex Ogden, Drew Ogden, and Ross Ogden. Great-grandchildren include Hadley Shepherd, Henry Stevens, Rylan and Jace Genereaux, Obadiah Kane, Micah Kane, Victoria Cuparencu, and Aliyah Ogden, plus one on the way.

Steve grew up in a large family having. His siblings Keith Stevens and wife Vivian, Mary “Peg” Oetting and husband Bob, Lucy Jones and husband Lowell, Becky Daugherty and husband Bill, Joan Endicott and husband Pat, Shirley Brewer, Jerry Stevens and wife Carolyn, and Ernie Stevens and wife Kay, are all deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Arcadia, with Rev. Thomas Ludwig presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will occur from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 11 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
