Carmel-based Lumavate partners with Franklin College to develop next generation of digital leaders

Franklin College announced Monday it has partnered with Lumavate, 1950 E. Greyhound Pass, Carmel, to help prepare students for the digital workforce as part of Franklin College’s digital fluency initiative. Students will use the Lumavate Platform to gain next-generation expertise in building highly personalized digital experiences and develop critical skills to help prepare them for the workforce they will encounter upon graduation.

“Our partnership with Lumavate will help students across the curriculum learn the vital digital skills they need to be leaders in the modern economy,” said Andrew Rosner, Franklin College director of digital fluency. “No-code platforms like Lumavate provide opportunities for students of all technical and academic backgrounds to hone their innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial, and design skills. I can’t wait to see what Franklin College students will create with Lumavate.”

The college’s digital fluency initiative merges the applications of technology in each academic discipline with the content knowledge and the liberal arts foundation to form Franklin College’s distinctive academic experience. In addition to developing technical skills as part of their core and major classes, students have access to more classes specifically focused on the development of digital fluency skills. The initiative also provides cutting-edge tools to students to use in their studies and prepare them for the high-tech world they will encounter upon graduation.

As part of the initiative, Franklin College has become an Adobe Creative Campus, which means it is partnering with Adobe to offer access to Adobe Creative Cloud software and services to all students, faculty, and staff. It is only the second institution in Indiana to offer this opportunity to its campus.

The college’s digital fluency curriculum is supported by a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of its initiative, Charting the Future for Indiana’s Colleges and Universities.

As part of this partnership, students will use the Lumavate Platform in select business courses and have the opportunity to become certified on the platform. Additionally, students will use the Lumavate Platform to build digital experiences on behalf of the college and student organizations. This hands-on approach will enable students to learn an industry-leading tool and create digital experiences that can be added to their portfolio of work.
