Hub & Spoke Institute will play host to a free career exploration event to help attendees learn about the opportunities, careers and possibilities as a skilled worker in the construction industry.
During the event designed for students and adults looking for a career change, construction trade employers will discuss career opportunities and share real-life success stories. Participants will be able to tour Fishers Maker Playground and get a hands-on experience building a wooden tool box from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
“Our goal at Hub & Spoke Institute is to provide an opportunity for folks to discover their passions and create flexibility for the important choices that determine their future,” said David Decker, founder of Hub & Spoke Institute. “Construction is more than hammers and nails. We want to build awareness and invite the community to explore career opportunities and ultimately create pathways to success.”
Hub & Spoke partnered with the City of Fishers to provide hands-on experiential learning and an educational journey. The community becomes the classroom via the public Fishers Maker Playground, a 15,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility including a community workshop, metal shop, 3D printing space, welding, laser cutter and more. Complementing the space are four classrooms with S.T.E.A.M.-experiential learning and a large gathering and collaboration space.
Registration for the free event is online. In the heart of Fishers, Hub & Spoke Institute is located at 8100 E. 106th St, near the intersection of 106th Street and the Nickel Plate Trail.
