The Tiger Den at Warsaw has always been known as a very tough place to play, especially for the road team.
That seemed to be the case on Saturday evening as the host Warsaw Tigers outscored the Shamrocks by five in the first and fourth to hold on for a 48-41 win.
Warsaw led 9-4 through one, but the Tigers knew Westfield would not be going away quietly.
The Shamrocks took the second 14-13 to trail just 22-18 at halftime and were well within reach to come back.
Westfield again were able to put more points on the board in the third than Warsaw, 13-11 and were down just 33-31 heading to the fourth.
The host Tigers defended their home floor and scored 15 to Westfield’s 10 in the final period to create some space to win 48-41.
Ellie Kelleher led all scorers with a game-high 15 points. Kelleher also had five rebounds and four assists, all while shooting six of 11 from the floor.
Aubrey Crockett had a solid game for the ‘Rocks with nine points, eight boards, three assists and three blocked shots. Lindsey Van Dyke chipped in with six points.
Westfield (5-3) has a home date on Tuesday when it hosts Carmel (0-9) in an all-county matchup.
