Tennis: Greyhounds take down Evansville North in Friday’s quarter-finals

The Carmel boys tennis doubles team of junior Braedon McIntyre and sophomore Michael Bao won its quarter-final match Friday at the IHSAA individual state finals at Park Tudor.

The Greyhounds defeated the Evansville North team of junior Gabe Wilke and senior William Cusic 6-1, 6-0. McIntyre and Bao are 18-0 for the season.

The Carmel team will now play in the semi-finals, which take place at 10 a.m. this morning at Park Tudor. McIntyre and Bao will take on North Central juniors Akshay Guttikonda and Owen Larrimer in one semi-final. The other semi-final will be contested by Park Tudor juniors Oliver Siefert and Michael Fryburg and Columbus North juniors Anvay Atram and Amrit Kar. The semi-final winners play for the state championship at 2 p.m.

In singles, Fishers senior Reese Knoderer lost his quarter-final match to Bloomington North senior Nicholas Shirley 6-1, 7-6 (5). Knoderer finished his season with a 25-4 record.
