Volleyball: Huskies end season with win over Park Tudor

The Hamilton Heights volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Monday by beating Park Tudor 25-12, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 in a home match.

Senior Kami Skiles led the Huskies by scoring several points in the middle, while Emma Blanton hit several aces and made big saves in the back row.

Heights is 16-12 and will play Saturday at Class 3A Sectional 27 at Guerin Catholic. The Huskies received a bye into the semi-finals and will play the winner of Thursday’s first-round match between Heritage Christian and Bishop Chatard.

Carmel hosted its own Invitational on Saturday, finishing the event 3-1.

The Greyhounds dropped their first match of the day to Floyd Central, 27-25, 25-11. Carmel rebounded to win its next three matches, beating Brownstown Central 25-19, 25-19; Bloomington South 25-23, 25-21 and Mount Vernon 25-10, 25-12.

The ‘Hounds are 22-9 and play at Hamilton Southeastern Thursday in the first round of Sectional 8.

Westfield dropped its regular-season finale on Saturday, falling to Wapahani 25-23, 26-28, 25-21, 25-13.

Emma Dodson hit 14 kills for the Shamrocks, while Chloe Sutake had 13 kills. Mallory Weber collected 20 digs, with Kaylee Sutcliffe, Mallory Neale and Lilly Tucker all getting 13 digs. Lilly Stanton dished out 31 assists and Izzy Jackson handed out 18 assists.

Westfield is 14-11 and plays at Sectional 8 on Saturday. The Shamrocks drew a first-round by and will play the winner of the Hamilton Southeastern-Carmel match at the Royals’ gym.
