Golf: County teams take care of their opponents

The Carmel girls golf team won a three-team meet Thursday at Golf Club of Indiana.

The No. 1-ranked Greyhounds scored 159 to Brebeuf Jesuit’s 190 and Cathedral’s 204. Carmel’s Michaela Headlee was the meet medalist with a 36, followed by Claire Swathwood 40, Sophie Mock 41, Ava Nguyen 42, Maya Berglund 45 and Kamryn Williams 46.

The ‘Hounds travel to The Legends in Franklin Saturday for the Hall of Fame Tournament.

Fishers bounced back from a tough Tuesday meet to beat New Palestine Wednesday at Purgatory Golf Club.

Both teams finished with a score of 193; the Tigers won on the fifth-woman score. Kristi Lilek led Fishers with a 43, followed by Kate Jansen 48, Ava Wellbaum 49 (a personal best), Ayanna Bodake 51, Lola Kivett 53 and Maren Spencer 61.

Fishers in next in action Monday at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, which takes place at Bear Slide.

Noblesville won a three-team meet Thursday at Harbour Trees.

The Millers finished with a score of 178 to Greenfield-Central’s 211 and Tipton’s 215. Noblesville was led by Presley White with a 42, while Olivia Fowler scored 44. Ally Hutchinson and Savannah Munson both had 46s and Peyton Kauzlick and Kendall Cooper both scored 48s.

Westfield was also a winner at a three-team meet Thursday, this one at Wood Wind.

The Shamrocks scored 142 to Zionsville’s 160 and Brownsburg’s 163. Westfield’s Samantha Brown was the meet medalist with a four under par 31. Addi Kooi scored a 35, followed by Claire Thompson and Sam Lemieux with 38s.

Both the Millers and the Shamrocks will compete at the Hall of Fame meet on Saturday.
