The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Weddle Brothers Highway Group LLC. has announced bridge work on 161st Street over U.S. 31 starting on or after 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 through 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29. Crews will place a polymeric overlay on the 161st Street bridge.
The official detour will be:
- Westbound 161st Street to South Union Street to East 156th Street to Oak Ridge Road to 161st Street
- Eastbound 161st Street to Oak Ridge Road to East 156th Street to South Union Street to 161st Street
This $588,000 contract was awarded to Weddle Brothers Highway Group LLC. in October 2021. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and be aware of workers and equipment when traveling through active work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
