The Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern boys tennis teams faced off Monday at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center in the season-opener for both teams.
The Greyhounds, six-time defending state champions, beat the Royals 4-1. Carmel’s No. 2 doubles team of Charlie Hall and Drew Willman got the first win (6-1, 6-2), then Jack Jentz took No. 2 singles (7-6 [3], 6-1).
The Greyhounds’ No. 1 doubles team of Braedon McIntyre and Michael Boa clinched the meet with a 6-3, 6-4 win, then No. 3 singles Rocky Li picked up Carmel’s fourth point (6-3, 6-4). Southeastern got its victory in the No. 1 singles match, with Rohan Golla winning 7-5, 6-4.
Carmel followed that up on Wednesday with a 5-0 win at West Lafayette. The ‘Hounds will host Cathedral at 5 p.m. this afternoon.

The Millers’ victory came from No. 2 doubles, with Jack Gigante and Caden David splitting the first two sets 6-4, 1-6 before winning a 10-8 super tiebreak.
