Ben Orr announces candidacy for HSE school board

Submitted

Ben Orr has filed with the Hamilton County Election Office as a candidate for Hamilton Southeastern School Board running in District 4, Fall Creek.

Orr is a lifelong Hoosier, an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Purdue University, husband, and father of two children in HSE Schools. He has worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years and works with Indiana Manufacturers Association and Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis helping members meet their insurance needs. He is an active volunteer in his children’s classrooms and on field trips as well as a youth sports coach for over 15 years at Park Tudor and Mudsock Youth Athletics.

Orr’s primary reasons for running for school board are to restore academic focus, provide administrative transparency, encourage parent involvement, and to maintain fiscal responsibility.

Orr says he believes that a return to an academic focus at every level will help best prepare students for their choice of either entry into the workforce, or to continue their education at the university level. He also says he believes that being transparent and involving parents in this process will benefit all members of the Fishers community. Finally, he says he believes that the district must always remain good stewards of the taxpayers’ money.

Orr will participate in a series of town halls and neighborhood events to dialogue with community members on restoring academic success for all students at HSE Schools.

Meet Orr from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at his first community meeting. For more information about him or upcoming community meetings, go to schoolboardben.org and his Facebook page at facebook.com/schoolboardben.
