Ralph H. Underwood, Jr., 82, Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Ralph was born November 11, 1939, in Troy, N.Y., to the late Ralph H. Sr., and Helene (Smith) Underwood.
Ralph served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Syracuse University. Ralph was the widower of Carol (Haldeman) Underwood to whom he was married for 60 years. He is survived by his daughters, Susan C. (Jeff) Bowen of Muskegon, Mich., Elizabeth A. (William) Eagleson of Westfield, and Martha J. (Todd) Bowles of Noblesville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Apgar of West Sand Lake, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ralph worked for GTE for 30 years, retiring as a forecasting manager in 1995. After retirement, he and Carol purchased a cottage on the Hudson River in the Adirondack Mountains. Many summers were enjoyed with family gatherings, grandchildren and love of nature. Ralph had a passion for finances, including a post-retirement job with H&R Block. He was a member of the Cottage Owners Association and Board of Directors, Riparius, N.Y., and gave his services to many churches in the different areas they lived. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Westfield. He was a great fan of the Indianapolis Colts, N.Y. Giants and Indiana Pacers. He will always be remembered as a quiet, sweet and gentle soul, and a man of great integrity.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heartland Hospice, the staff at Woodland Terrace of Carmel, and to his special caregivers, Marybeth, Stacey and April. You were all incredible blessings to him and his family.
Private family services were held on Monday, June 13 at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Ethan Spira officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Westfield.
