Tennis sectionals start with semi-final action

Tennis sectionals began in Hamilton County on Thursday after a one-day delay due to the weather.
Semi-final action took place at both sites, Carmel’s Todd Witsken Tennis Center and the Fishers High School courts. At Carmel, the No. 1-ranked and defending state champion Greyhounds beat University 5-0, while No. 8 Westfield defeated Guerin Catholic 5-0. Meanwhile, the No. 4 Tigers beat No. 15 Noblesville 5-0, while No. 10 Hamilton Southeastern won 5-0 over Hamilton Heights.
All four teams advanced to the championship match, which will be played today at the respective sites. Fishers and Southeastern face off at 4:30 p.m. for that title, while Carmel and Westfield play at 5:15 p.m. for that trophy.
