The Hamilton Southeastern girls lacrosse team won two games in Michigan over the weekend.
In their first game, the Royals beat Hudsonville 11-6. The defense had a solid game, causing seven turnovers and holding the Eagles to three goals in the second half. Senior Kendall Borgert led the defense with a team-high six ground balls and a forced turnover. Borgert also added an assist on the offensive end.
Freshman Sarah Gastineau continued her solid play on offense with a team-high four goals. Freshman Sidney Sloan and junior Ellie Nawa added two goals apiece with Nawa adding an assist. Seniors Ellie Fitzpatrick and Sam Borgert with junior Sydney Schena added one goal each with Borgert handing out an assist.
In the second game, Southeastern cruised to a 21-6 victory over West Ottawa High School.
“The defense had another outstanding second half in keeping West Ottawa scoreless,” said Royals coach Rex Holliday.
Junior Alexis Green had a strong game on both ends of the field with a team-leading four ground balls, a forced turnover and two goals. Fitzpatrick and Nawa led scoring with three goals each. Seniors Sam Borgert and Jenna Jenkins added two goals apiece with Borgert adding an assist.
Sloan, Sophie Tolle, Kendall Borgert, Emily Gebhardt, Olivia Lund, Jessie Lyons, Morgan Lemieux, Gastineau and Tate Ferrell all scored one goal, with Lund handing out two assists and Sloan, Lyons and Lemieux all dishing out one each. Tolle had a caused turnover and Gebhardt made an interception.
