The first Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast fundraiser filled the Mill Top Banquet & Conference Center, 802 Mulberry St., Noblesville, on Wednesday.
The event was held to raise awareness and funding for the Chaplaincy program. Senior Chaplain Mark Fidler oversaw 254 community volunteers and several chaplains in 2021, who helped provide programming in the Hamilton County Jail and Community Corrections. The Chaplaincy conducted Bible Studies, Worship Services, AA classes, Christian Recovery Classes (includes 12 Steps for Christians & Overcomers), Alpha Program, Catholic Bible Studies and Worship Services.
Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush told the Reporter he wanted to start this after the Noblesville Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast went away, but COVID delayed the plans until now. The Sheriff’s Department may have to find a bigger venue next year. While there was space for a few more tables this time, there is no doubt that the community support was strong.
The featured speaker, Ilona Burress, was a former participant in the program and gave a powerful testimony of her spiritual journey. The event was attended by over 200 people and raised more than $10,000. Ginger’s Café, Noblesville, provided the delicious breakfast food and drinks for the event.
