Public officials close local government buildings due to winter storm’s impact

On Wednesday morning, the Hamilton County Commissioners voted to close all county government buildings through at least Thursday, with a reassessment based on weather conditions set for this afternoon. The City of Westfield also closed its city services building for the rest of the week. The official announcements appear below.

County Government

Due to severe weather, Hamilton County Government buildings closed at 2 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed through Thursday. Essential services are operating, but are not open to the public. The lobby at the Sheriff’s Office will remain open both days. Citizens are encouraged to access online services when applicable.

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners will meet virtually at 4 p.m. on Thursday to assess road conditions and discuss county operations for Friday. The meeting may be accessed by dialing (219) 225-8177.

The Hamilton County Council meeting that had been scheduled Wednesday night has also been postponed. It has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The Hamilton County Health Department has also closed its vaccination clinic at the 4-H Fairgrounds and its testing site at the Hamilton County Health Department both Thursday and Friday. Operations will resume Monday. Individuals with appointments will receive a call to reschedule.

Westfield
