Greyhounds take care of Cathedral

Carmel took care of Cathedral 47-34 in a Tuesday game at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The IBCA No. 20 Greyhounds got off to a good start, leading 11-4 after the first quarter, with Emily Roper scoring six points. The Irish cut into Carmel’s lead slightly in the second period, but the ‘Hounds still led 18-13 at halftime.
Carmel’s offense got going in the third quarter, pouring in 23 points and helping the Greyhounds to a 41-32 lead by the end of the period. Kate Clarke nailed three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points, while Hannah Lach had two 3s in scoring eight points. The Greyhounds’ defense held Cathedral to two points in the fourth.
Clarke finished the game with 20 points. Mackenzie Woods collected six rebounds, with Mackenzie Thomas pulling five rebounds. Laura Valiente handed out five assists.
Carmel is 14-7 and hosts Ben Davis on Friday to finish Metropolitan Conference and regular-season play.
