The University girls celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a 73-39 win over Cardinal Ritter, their 16th consecutive win.
The Class 2A No. 4 Trailblazers were led by Kelsey DuBois who had a season high 25 points. The 6-0 junior also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Cardinal Ritter jumped out to an early 7-4 before the Trailblazers scored the next 15 points to take control of the game. Abby Hannon started the run for University scoring off an assist from Becky Williams. University went in front at the 4:00 mark of the opening quarter on a Arrion Sherrod three pointer. DuBois scored eight of the next ten points, all on assisted baskets with Patty Chikamba, Kamryn Washington, Payton Seay and Jordan Patterson all earning assists. After a Ritter three pointer DuBois made a rebound basket with six seconds left to put University up 21-10 after the first period.
University held Ritter scoreless for the first 4:14 of the second quarter to race to a 32-10 lead. University led 40-22 at halftime.
Seay finished with 12 points, four rebounds and four steals. Chikamba had seven points, seven rebounds, five steals and five assists. Senior Emily Adamowicz had six points, a team-high six assists and five steals. Jordan Patterson hit a pair of three pointers for six points
Fourteen Trailblazers saw action in the contest, with 10 scoring. All six seniors hit the scoreboard. Sherrod made two three pointers for six points. Hannon had her first quarter basket for two. Anne Gibboney scored two field goals for four points and Williams was two for two at the foul line.
Kelsey Waggoner led Ritter with 27 points.
The Trailblazers have two games remaining in the regular season. They play next Thursday at Tri-West before closing out the regular season Saturday afternoon hosting Class 2A No. 5 Tipton. University opens Sectional 43 play next Tuesday night at Western Boone against Class 2A No. 9 Cascade.
