The Carmel boys basketball team was dealt a tough loss on the road Saturday, falling to Brownsburg 34-31.
The Greyhounds, ranked No. 1 in the IBCA coaches poll and No. 2 in the Associated Press Class 4A ratings, led 5-3 after the first quarter and 20-13 at halftime. The Bulldogs began to come back in the third quarter, cutting Carmel’s lead to 26-23 by the end of the period. Brownsburg worked its way back to tie the game at 31-31 late in the fourth, then won on a buzzer-beater.
Peter Suder scored 13 points to lead the Greyhounds. Sam Orme collected eight rebounds to go with seven points, while Garwey Dual had seven points and five rebounds. Jaren Bonds also pulled five rebounds.
Carmel is 11-4 and plays a Metropolitan Conference game Friday at Ben Davis.
