Tigers girls beat Brownsburg, stay perfect in HCC

The Fishers girls basketball team kept itself unbeaten in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference with a 55-35 win over Brownsburg Friday at the Tiger Den.
Fishers, ranked No. 8 in the ICGSA Class 4A poll and No. 10 in the IBCA one-class ratings, jumped out to a 19-8 first-quarter lead. Seven different players scored for the Tigers, with Joirdyn Smith getting five points. Smith, Karina Scott, Talia Harris and Morgan Roberts all had one 3-pointer.
Fishers led 30-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs cut that lead to 37-25 after three periods, but the Tigers scored 18 points in the fourth to put the game away. Fishers’ free-throw shooting was key, as the Tigers made 9 of 11 from the line during the fourth quarter.
Joirdyn Smith and Olivia Smith each scored 10 points for Fishers, with Scott adding nine.
The Tigers are 5-0 in the conference and 14-4 overall. Fishers hosts Carmel Tuesday in an all-county game.
