Hamilton Heights hosted Guerin Catholic Tuesday evening for an all-county wrestling dual meet.
The Huskies won the meet 66-16, taking seven of the 10 contested matches. All seven of those wins were by fall, including six first-period pins.
Heights 220-pounder Josh Brown had the quickest pin of the night, winning his match in 27 seconds. Evan Tilton (182), Mason Moran (285) and Alex Furst (126) also got falls within the first 40 seconds. Jaylyn Pugh (132) and Charles Brown (170) were the other two Huskies to get first-period pins, while Michael Cain (152) got his fall in the second period.
“A week and a half ago, we had 70 matches in a Super 6, we had 55 pins,” said Heights coach Gary Myers. “We’re a pinning team. We’re getting better every day.”
The Huskies’ Carson Fettig (138), Andy Lienemann (195), Cooper Doucette (106) and Isaac Kuhn (120) all received forfeits.
The Golden Eagles’ three wins started with Quinn Sutton holding on for an 18-10 major decision victory at 145 pounds. Isaac Richardson then got a third-period pin at 160, and Peter Nguyen won at 113 after an injury default.
“Considering Gary Myers runs a pretty excellent program and his kids are well-disciplined and they do what they’re coached, for us, to fight the way we did and come away with three victories on 10 matches, I’m not going to complain,” said Guerin Catholic coach Jeff Dunasky.
Heights is 17-1 for the season and travels to Rensselaer Central today to participate in a two-day tournament. The Huskies will wrestle in nine duals over the next two days. The Golden Eagles will next compete in the Mooresville Holiday Classic on Dec. 28 and 29.
