The Sheridan girls basketball team won its first Hoosier Heartland Conference game of the season Friday, picking up a 61-46 victory at Clinton Prairie.
The Gophers led 11-9 after the first quarter, then increased their lead to 26-20 by halftime. But the Blackhawks turned things around in the third period, outscoring Prairie 23-3. Kenzie Garner scored seven points in that quarter, with Ashley Webel and Cecelia Timme each contributing six points; Webel hit two 3-pointers.
Sheridan led 43-29 after three periods, then took care of business in the fourth. Taylor Bates added six points. Garner led the scoring with 22 points, while Bates had 15.
The Blackhawks are 1-1 in HHC play and 5-2 overall. Sheridan returns to action Thursday with another conference game, as the ‘Hawks host Rossville.
