Hamilton Southeastern improved its Hoosier Crossroads Conference record to 2-0 on Tuesday by winning 46-40 at Brownsburg.
The Class 4A No. 10 Royals were in control during the first half, going up 16-10 after one quarter. Maya Makalusky threw in two 3-pointers on her way to nine points and Riley Makalusky had one triple, scoring seven points. Southeastern then jumped ahead 30-20 by halftime; Makayla Hinshaw and Olivia Brown each scored five points in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs made a bit of a comeback in the third period, but the Royals stayed ahead 35-30 going into the third quarter. Riley Makalusky then scored six points in the fourth, helping Southeastern to the win.
Both Maya and Riley Makalusky scored 15 points for HSE. Maya Makalusky collected five rebounds and Riley Makalusky had three steals. Brown finished with seven points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds, while Hinshaw had six points, three rebounds and two assists.
Southeastern is 5-2 overall and hosts Carmel on Friday afternoon.
