Fishers picked up its second Hoosier Crossroads Conference win of the season Tuesday, beating Class 4A No. 7 Zionsville 61-50 at the Tiger Den.
A strong first half was the key for the 4A No. 5 Tigers. Fishers led 16-8 after the first quarter, with Talia Harris scoring four points and four other players making a 3-pointer. The Tigers then poured in 19 second-period points to lead 35-22 at halftime. Karina Scott threw in two 3s, Alycia Triplet also had six points and Joirdyn Smith was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The Eagles slightly cut into Fishers’ lead in the third quarter, but the Tigers still led 44-33 going into the fourth period. Fishers kept its comfortable advantage in the fourth, with Olivia Smith scoring eight points and Kate Thomas adding six.
“Fishers used pressure defense and disciplined offense to pull out the win by the score of 61-50,” said Tigers coach Lauren Votaw.
Triplet scored 15 points for Fishers, with Thomas and Olivia Smith both contributing 11 points.
The Tigers are 2-0 in conference play and stay unbeaten at 6-0 overall. Fishers plays at Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday.
