Carmel PD forgoes grooming for cancer research fundraiser

Officers and civilian employees of the Carmel Police Department (CPD) are once again participating in “No-Shave November” to raise awareness about cancer and collect donations to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

This is CPD’s sixth year of participation in “No-Shave November.” The fundraising goal this year is $3,000. CPD is proud to have raised a total of more than $24,000 during the past four years to benefit LLS.

Carmel Police Chief Jim Barlow is relaxing the department’s grooming standards regarding facial hair for employees who make monetary donations. Family, friends and members of the community are also encouraged to donate. Please consider supporting CPD’s initiative by donating to the Go Fund Me account at this link.

For each monetary goal achieved, School Resource Officer Sarah Livingston or School Resource Officer Mike Zimmerman will complete the activities below. Check out CPD’s Facebook page to learn more and follow along.

  • $500 – Officer Zimmerman gets slimed
  • $1,000 – CPD employee rides with a driving instructor at the track
  • $2,000 – Officer Livingston receives a K9 bite
  • $3,000 – Officer Zimmerman and Officer Livingston toss a pie at Chief Barlow’s face
