Volleyball: ‘Hounds clinch MIC title

The Carmel volleyball team got two big wins to start the week.
On Monday, the Greyhounds completed an undefeated Metropolitan Conference championship by beating Pike 25-16, 25-16, 25-17. Macarty McQueen led the offense with 14 kills, followed by Ella Brooks and Emily Waddell with nine each, Caroline Yuska with five and Ella Bostic with two. Bostic also had 38 assists and two aces.
Valerie Trent served six aces, while Lauren Evans had two and Brooks hit one. Evans made 10 digs, while Brooks had eight and Trent six. Waddell made one block.
On Tuesday, Carmel beat Cathedral in a tough four-set match, 17-25, 25-16, 30-28, 25-13. The Greyhounds are 18-5 for the season and host Bishop Chatard on Thursday in their Senior Night match.

Westfield swept past North Central in a Monday match, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21.
Abby Heck led the Shamrocks by hitting 12 kills, while Dani Schade smacked 11 kills. Schade also had four blocks. Mallory Weber collected 18 digs and Logan Mapes dished out 42 assists.
Westfield is 10-11 and hosts Avon Thursday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match that is also Teacher Appreciation Night.

Hamilton Southeastern swept Wapahani on Monday, 25-20, 25-13, 25-19.
Tiffany Snook put down 10 kills for the Royals, with Lauren Harden serving three aces. Emi Robinson and Meghan Slaninka both made 10 digs. Emily Weber dished out 20 assists and Macy Hinshaw handed out 13 assists.
Southeastern is 19-2 and plays at Hamilton Heights this evening.

Hamilton Heights swept Scecina on Monday, 25-16, 25-15, 25-13.
The Huskies are 13-4 for the season.

Fishers beat Mount Vernon in four sets Tuesday, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 28-26.
The Tigers are 15-4 and host Guerin Catholic on Saturday.

Noblesville dropped a four-set match to Heritage Christian on Tuesday, 25-19, 27-29, 25-21, 25-19.
The Millers are 13-9 and host Hamilton Southeastern in a Thursday HCC match.

Sheridan fell to Rossville 25-10, 25-14, 25-12 in a Tuesday Hoosier Heartland Conference match.
Taylor Bates led the Blackhawks with six digs, five kills, three aces and two assists. Kenzie Garner had seven digs, two kills and two assists. Kendra Blankenship hit two kills and had one block assist, Nova Cross had six digs and three assists and Lexi Lewin made one block assist. Claudia Headlee collected 10 digs.
Sheridan hosts University tonight.
