The Fishers girls volleyball team went 2-for-2 in matches early this week.
On Monday, the Class 4A No. 7 Tigers swept Plainfield 25-12, 25-17, 25-18, making a season-best 10 team blocks. Rose Duffy handed out 29 assists, made 10 digs and served five aces.
Elizabeth Weeks stuffed 3.5 blocks and had Fishers’ best hitting percentage of the night at 0.583. Mallory Hernandez hit 12 kills and Audrey Haworth put down 10.
On Tuesday, the Tigers swept Mount Vernon 28-26, 25-16, 25-15. Duffy handed out 42 assists, with Hernandez hitting 19 kills, Haworth spiking 11, Camryn Haworth putting down eight and Weeks hitting five.
Haley Soper made 1.5 blocks in addition to four kills. Bryn Roberts had 11 digs and Duffy collected 10 digs.
Carmel picked up two wins in two days, beating Pike on Monday and Cathedral on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds swept the Red Devils 25-12, 25-17, 25-6 to finish Metropolitan Conference play 6-1. Mo Armstrong hit 10 kills for Carmel, with Lauren Van Remortel dishing out 31 assists. Zoey Daet served four aces and Van Remortel hit three. Kailey Akins made five blocks.
The ‘Hounds came from behind to beat the Irish in five sets, 17-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-8. Armstrong blasted 17 kills, with Elana Brueggemann hitting 15 kills and Akins putting down 11. Van Remortel handed out 51 assists. Sophie Oliphant made 15 digs, with Paige Crossen scooping up 10 digs. Crossen and Oliphant both served three aces, and Yara Batista had four blocks, with Akins, Amrstrong and Brueggemann all getting three blocks.
Hamilton Heights came from behind to win a five-setter over Scecina on Monday. The set scores were 21-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-12.
Ana Collar hit 18 kills, collected 23 digs and made four blocks. Kylie Rose had 25 digs. Tori Hayden spiked 10 kills, scooped up four digs and had two blocks.
On Tuesday, the Huskies lost in five sets to Heritage Christian, 25-27, 20-25, 25-17, 26-24, 15-12. Collar put down 15 kills, had 20 digs, handed out 12 assists, made two blocks and served one ace.
Emma Knowles dished out 25 assists to go along with eight digs, one ace and one kill. Hannah Crist hit 12 kills, collected 13 digs and had one ace and one block.
Sheridan fell to Rossville 25-22, 25-14, 26-24 on Tuesday.
Allie Delph and Lauren Railer each hit nine kills for the Blackhaws. Sheridan’s junior varsity team won 22-25, 25-15, 15-12.
