Fishers Arts Council (FAC) presents the artwork of sisters Olivia (Liv) Ash and Ingrid Blount titled “Painting Words and Emotions” at The Art Gallery at City Hall in Fishers.

The exhibit is open now and continues through the end of the month. There will be a free public reception at the gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 with refreshments and live music by Emily Ann Thompson.

Ash says she prefers large-scale works. “I am content in creating a piece when it expresses the emotion I imagine.”

Ash says she also prefers working with acrylic on canvas as it dries quickly enough to keep up with her mind. She gravitates toward texture and abstract works, “imagining the emotional landscape behind the artistic one.”

For Blount, “Each piece represents either an emotion or word/phrase/poem that the painting evokes to me as an artist.”

For this exhibit, Blount has expanded from her base of alcohol inks to include acrylics and gypsum. “The art process behind the pieces was two-fold,” she explained. Her first objective was to grow in her use of color combination and larger pieces. Her second objective was to use new techniques to expand her style.

Together, the sisters present 45 colorful expressions of words and emotions on canvas.

The gallery is part of the City Municipal Complex at One Municipal Drive, Fishers. It is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon during the Fishers Summer Farmers Market.

Also, during the Aug. 13 reception for Liv and Ingrid, a raffle will be held for a Conner Prairie Basic Family Membership, in anticipation of the upcoming Art on the Prairie event on Sunday, Aug. 22. Winners do not need to be present to win.
