The Noblesville softball team pulled away in the middle innings of its Friday game with Hamilton Southeastern, eventually winning 18-8 in six innings at the Millers field.
The Royals got on the board in the first inning after Ava Aguilar hit a two-run home run. Reece Massey also scored. Noblesville took the lead in the second inning after Scout Duplaga hit her first homer of the game, a three-run homer to right field that also sent Kira Thomas and Ella White home.
Southeastern took the lead back in the third inning by scoring three runs to go up 5-3. Alli Boyle’s right field hit batted in Aguilar and Olivia Howard, then Daphne Bush hit a sacrifice fly to score Jenna Chase.
Lauren DeRolf’s RBI single in the bottom of the third scored Reis Sjoholm, and got the Millers within 5-4. Noblesville then took control in the fourth inning by scoring seven runs. Abby Harvey doubled in Myah Stuckey and Sjoholm, then Gabby Fowler’s right field hit sent Harvey home. Rylie Newcomer batted in Fowler, then Duplaga’s right field hit got Cameron Grayson and White home. Newcomer later scored on a wild pitch to put Noblesville up 11-5.
The Royals scored three runs in the top of the fifth to cut the Millers’ lead to 11-8. Boyle’s sacrifice fly got Howard home, Bush singled in Maddie Bucher, and Jolie Johnson cracked a triple to score Bush.
But Noblesville answered that with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Grayson doubled in DeRolf to start, then the Millers loaded the bases. Duplaga came back up to the plate, and hit a grand slam into left field, also scoring Thomas (running for Grayson), White and Newcomer. That gave Duplaga a total of nine RBIs for the game.
Noblesville finished the game in the sixth inning when Grayson hit a two-run homer, also scoring Fowler. Grayson was 5-for-5 at the plate, while Duplaga was 3-for-4. Grayson pitched a complete game for the win, striking out seven.
Aguilar, Howard, Chase and Johnson all had two hits for the Royals, with Boyle totaling three RBIs.
Noblesville is 12-4 and hosts Penn today in a doubleheader. Southeastern is 5-12 and hosts Anderson Monday.

Hamilton Heights swept both games of a doubleheader with Tipton Friday at the Huskies’ field.
Heights won the first game 5-3. Hayley Greene got things started in the first inning with a solo home run. In the third inning, Isabella Neiling led off with a double, then later stole home. Lily Roush also scored by stealing home plate. Greene hit her second homer of the game in the fifth inning, also scoring Roush.
Greene and Sydney Massicotte both had perfect days at the plate, going 3-for-3. Roush pitched a complete game, tossing 13 strikeouts.
The Huskies beat the Blue Devils 13-3 in the second game. Tipton scored a run in the first inning, then Heights got one run each in both the third and fourth innings. Neiling scored the first run after Massicotte reached on error, then Neiling batted in Claire Cooper to give the Huskies the lead.
Heights erupted for 11 runs in the seventh inning. Neiling led off with a home run, Kaylee Rhoton doubled in two runs, then Kelsie Albright hit an RBI single. Cooper singled in one run and Neiling hit a two-RBI single. After Cooper and Neiling scored on an error, Rhoton batted in two more runs with a center field hit.
Neiling was 4-for-5 at the plate, batting in four runs and scoring three. Rhoton drove in four runs. Greene, Natalie Newman and Cooper all scored twice. Albright pitched a complete game for the win, striking out six.
The Huskies are 3-10 and host Class 3A No. 3 Guerin Catholic on Tuesday.

Sheridan won its Senior Night game on Friday, cruising past Clinton Prairie 9-3 in a Hoosier Heartland Conference contest.
The Blackhawks began their scoring with five runs in the second inning. Kendra Blankenship batted in Addyson Ream for the first run, then Katy Crail smacked a triple into right field, sending Blankenship, Jacquellynne Bates and Allie Delph home. Crail then scored on an error.
Blankenship stepped up again in the third inning, hitting a three-run home run. Taylor Bates and Maelei Casler also scored. Allie Delph added a run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch.
Reed and Blankenship were both 2-for-3, while Caitlin Neese hit a double. Blankenship totaled four RBIs for the game. Ream pitched a complete game, tossing seven strikeouts.
Sheridan is 3-4 and plays at Carroll this morning.
