Softball: GC edges Fishers, Millers sweep Invite

Guerin Catholic won another all-county game on Saturday, beating Fishers 1-0.
The Golden Eagles scored their run in the fifth inning. Julia Hartley got on base with a single, then advanced to second base on Ana Macha’s left field hit. Aliyah Dorsey then batted in Hartley with her left field hit.
Macha and Lucy Schenk both were 2-for-3 at the plate. Izzy Kemp put on another great performance in the circle, striking out 17 against three hits and no walks.
Hannah Mays was 2-for-3 for the Tigers. Kamara Walker also threw a complete game, striking out eight.
Guerin Catholic is still perfect for the season at 11-0 and hosts Sheridan on Monday. Fishers is 8-5 and travels to Avon Tuesday for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.

Noblesville easily won its own Miller Invitational on Saturday.
The Millers beat in their first game, 15-5 in five innings. Scout Duplaga hit two home runs, one in the third inning and another in the fifth inning. In both instances, Duplaga’s homers scored Ella White.
White had a fantastic day at the plate, going 4-for-4, driving in six runs and scoring four. White also hit a home run, a two-run homer in the second inning. She also knocked in a three-run triple in the first inning.
Lauren DeRolf was 2-for-3 and scored three runs, while Reis Sjoholm stole three bases. Claire Cullen pitched three innings for the win.
In its second game, Noblesville cruised past Plainfield 13-3 in five innings. The Millers blasted four home runs, including two from White, who had one each in the third and fourth innings. Rylie Newcomer also hit a fourth-inning homer, and Gabby Fowler’s leadoff home run in the fifth inning finished the game by the run-rule.
Sjoholm, White, Cameron Grayson and Newcomer were all 3-for-3 at the plate, with Fowler, White and Newcomer all driving in three runs. White scored three. Sjoholm again stole three bases. Grayson pitched all five innings for the win, tossing five strikeouts.
Noblesville is 11-4 and plays at Mount Vernon Monday.

Sheridan easily won both games of a doubleheader at Taylor on Saturday.
The Blackhawks cruised to an 18-3 victory in five innings in the first game. Riley Reed, Caitlin Neese and Allie Delph all had two hits. Reed’s total included a two-RBI double in the fifth inning; she drove in five runs overall. Addyson Ream had three RBIs and also scored three runs.
Reed pitched all five innings, striking out nine.
In the second game, Sheridan won 14-4. Katy Crail was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in four runs. Neese and Kendra Blankenship both had four hits, while Reed drove in three runs, including a two-run inside the park home run in the second inning.
Blankenship, Crail and Neese all hit a double. Delph got the pitching win, throwing 10 strikeouts in a complete game.
The Blackhawks play Monday at Guerin Catholic.
