Jerry J. Cook

November 21, 1936 – April 26, 2021

Jerry J. Cook, 84, Carmel, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021. Jerry was born on November 21, 1936 in Rutland, Iowa, to the late Archie and Myrtle Cook. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and served in the U.S. Army. His passion was his family and his faith; he was a devoted husband to his wife, a proud dad of five children, and a loving grandpa to 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Jerry was a Professional Engineer. Over his career he worked for Square D Electric, Farrell-Argast Electric Co., Inc and Simon Properties. He retired from his own company, Cook Systems, Inc. Jerry was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, The Rotary Club and the Electric League of Indiana.

A proud alumnus of the University of Iowa and of his military service, nothing made him happier than watching the growth and success of his children and grandchildren. He was an active member and coach of the Carmel Dads’ Club. He especially enjoyed baseball and was active in the development of the former Babe Ruth Field located near the American Legion.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 30 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Earlene, with whom he had his first date when they were 15 years old; his children, Kevin J. (wife, Barbara J. Byrne) Cook, Karee L. (husband, Dean) Petruzzi, Keely A. Matthias and Kristin M. (husband, Perry) Paquette; grandchildren, Jade Council, Danielle (Joey) Elliott, Kyle (Lauren) Cook, Christina (Charlie) George, Kevin (fiancé, Taylor) Cook, Elyse Petruzzi, Erika (Scott) Sanders, Erynn Petruzzi, Evan Petruzzi, Jerrica Starkey, Josh (Stephanie) Matthias, Julie (Zachary) Busseni, Jaymee (David Joseph) Matthias, Emma Schmidt, Will Schmidt, Joey Schmidt, Sydney Paquette; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jane Delahunt, Joanie (Maris) Doster, Jon (Helen) Cook, Judy (David) O’Leary; and brother-in-law, Jim Glaser. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly K. Regot; and siblings, Jean Beer, Jim Cook, June Glaser and Jack Cook.
