Lacrosse: Millers girls win all-county game with ‘Hounds

The Noblesville girls lacrosse team won an all-county battle with Carmel on Wednesday, beating the Greyhounds 13-10 at Murray Stadium.
The Millers were in control early, leading 7-0. Carmel made a comeback by halftime, cutting Noblesville’s lead to 9-6. The two teams went toe-to-toe during the second half, but the Millers controlled possession of the ball during the final three minutes to clinch the victory.
Chloe Barnett led the Noblesville scoring with four goals, while Brooke Miller and Sidney Klinger both had three goals. Rheagan Haney, Mallory Miller and Maya Hill all added one goal. Emma Potter and Klinger both handed out two assists, with Haney, Maddie Christie and Mallory Miller each making one.
Potter had a strong night with six draw controls and two ground balls, while Haney had four draw controls, one ground ball and one forced turnover. Several Millers stepped up on defense, with Klinger picking up two ground balls and Mallory Miller, Chaney Cornell and Lindsay Wilson all getting one. Cornell also made two forced turnovers, with Barnett and Mallory Miller both having one.
Anna Dunke and Maddie Christie each scored three goals for the Greyounds. Hannah Kim and Julia Cherubini added two goals each, with Kim also making an assist.
Noblesville improved to 7-1 with the win and hosts Westfield Friday night for its Senior Night game. Carmel dropped to 6-1 and plays at Park Tudor tonight.

The Hamilton Southeastern boys’ team took care of Center Grove 16-3 on Wednesday.
Ten different Royals players scored at least one goal, and six of them had at least two goals. Scoring twice were EJ Reichert, Garrett Smith, Ryan Kemp, Brandon Sogocio, Michael Mattaliano and Michael Matheny. Smith also handed out four assists.
Ty DeSplinter led the defense with four ground balls and a forced turnover, while Reichert and Max Blackburn both scooped up three ground balls.
Southeastern’s junior varsity team won 14-3. Nick Overy scored three goals, with Owen O’Rourke, Kai Trott, Shane Gastineau and Mason Wright all adding two. O’Rourke, Trott and Gastineau all handed out one assist, while Wright had three ground balls and one forced turnover.
The Royals will play Guerin Catholic on Friday.
