The Jungle, 16707 Southpark Drive, Westfield, is bringing some exciting changes to the Westfield community. The familiar gym has been an established facility over the past 10 years, primarily servicing youth basketball teams across the north-side communities.
Well-known murals line the basketball court with paintings of icons like Elvis, Michael Jordan and Waldo, cheering on all who enter.
While the nostalgic gym has been treasured and seen by many over the years, the owners used the slower 2020 season as an opportunity to reinvent The Jungle to serve more Westfield families.
As renovations conclude, The Jungle is hosting a Community Spring Bash on April 24 to celebrate the new and improved facility. Everyone is invited to be part of this this fun community party, designed for your entire family from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. The official ribbon cutting ceremony, led by Synergize, will take place at 1 p.m.
The Jungle’s renovations have brightened and modernized the space. A fresh coat of paint covers the interior and exterior, and glass garage doors seamlessly tie the space together as one facility. The basketball floor has been refinished, including lines for four pickleball and four badminton courts, and, of course, the large sand play area backing up to the Monon Trail.
“With COVID-19 we were able to take a step back, re-evaluate the potential of the facility and ultimately decide to renovate the space, build strategic partnerships and re-launch with something very special,” said Cassandra Moe, owner of The Jungle. “Two of those strategic partnerships The Jungle brought to the facility are Fit Flex Fly (F3) and CCA Sports.”
Fit Flex Fly has taken over the turf space to expand the successful Nora concept to the north-side communities. Fitness classes are offered that maximize your effort by burning fat, building strength and increasing flexibility. Classes will also focus on youth, sport-specific training programs to enhance speed, agility, and help with injury prevention. CCA Sports will play host to sand volleyball leagues starting this spring. The Jungle has poured into the parking lot by adding two sand volleyball courts as well as a family-friendly sand play area, a playground and a large patio which will serve beverages and have a regular cadence of food truck vendors.
