Residents in Westfield will have a chance to learn about valuable safety practices this weekend when the Westfield Fire Department hosts the 2017 Westfield Safety Festival.
The event takes places from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Village Park Plaza. There is no cost for admission.
“We want people to come out, have a good time and hopefully pick up some safety tips that may save their lives,” said Westfield Fire Department Fire Marshal Garry Harling. “This is a great event for the whole family, but particularly great for teaching young people what to do in an emergency.”
Attendees will be able to see a K-9 demonstration from the Westfield Police Department, participate in a kids firefighter challenge, view an extraction demonstration and spend some time with Kasey the Fire Dog during a performance at 12:30 p.m.
Kona Ice will also be on hand selling cool treats.
This year’s event will also serve as a collection site for Westfield’s Harvey relief efforts. A list of acceptable items can be found here.
Special thanks to Franciscan Health for sponsoring this event.
