Millers pick up Monday HCC win

Noblesville got back above the .500 mark in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play on Monday, beating Avon 59-52 at The Mill.
The Orioles had the advantage in the first half, leading 13-11 after the first quarter and 25-20 at halftime. But the Millers blasted back in the third period, scoring 22 points to take a 42-35 lead into the fourth period. Noblesville maintained that lead by scoring 17 points in the fourth.
Jayla Jones led the Millers scoring with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Mallory Miller added 14 points while Ashlynn Shade earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Shade also had five assists and four steals, while Reagan Wilson made seven steals.
Noblesville is now 3-2 in the HCC and 9-3 overall. The Millers will compete in the Greensburg Tournament today, taking on New Palestine at noon in first-round play. Southport plays Greensburg to open the event at 10 a.m. The consolation game is set for 4 p.m., with the championship game at 6 p.m.
