April 17, 1934 – November 6, 2020
Jewel D. Birge, 86, Noblesville, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Five Star Residences of Noblesville. She was born on April 17, 1934 to Rufus and Edgie (Freeman) Perrigo in Friendship, Tenn.
Jewel worked for GE making Bell South Telephones and also cleaned houses. She was a hard worker and did everything with integrity. Jewel was a member of Sheridan First Baptist Church.
Jewel was a dedicated mother/grandmother and loved with all of her heart. She was a very talented cook; everyone wanted dinner at Jewel’s house. She made most dishes from her garden, tended with love, with precise ingredients and measurements in her recipes that equaled a delicious dish. They will be remembered for generations.
Jewel loved an organized, clean house inside and out. She grew the most beautiful flowers to complement her home and tended to a garden every season. She put pride in all she did. If you were blessed enough to have her be your house cleaner, you would have floors that were mopped on her hands and knees (because that was the best, most precise way to get the perfection she always strode for) and a house that gleamed and sparkled with cleanliness. Jewel will leave us with the lessons and vision that we should care for all things with love and do everything to our best and with integrity. She was a simple southern woman who understood hard work payed off. She has laid a path for all generations to follow with her work ethic, love of the Lord and love for her family. She was a gem just as her name states, Jewel. She will be greatly missed.
Jewel is survived by her son, Lloyd (Debbie) Blankenship; grandchildren, Alisha Blankenship and Jason (Brenda) Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Kendra and Drake Merriman; step-daughters, Tamra (Gary) Southerland and Sandra Edwards; and sister, Maureen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noie Birge, in 2016.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with visitation from noon to the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
