Agnes Irene Holladay Gunn, 95, Tipton, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2020, after an extended illness at Miller’s Merry Manor of Tipton. She was born on July 26, 1925 to Oscar and Rena (Huffman) Holladay in Sullivan County, Ind.
Irene worked for Delco Remy in Anderson for over 30 years, retiring in 1975. She and her husband Orval enjoyed more than 25 years wintering in Estero, Fla., and lived in Hamilton County for 50 years. She moved to Tipton in 2015. She was an avid golfer in Florida, as well as in Anderson. She enjoyed watching golf, basketball, and traveling. Irene married Orval on November 8, 1952, and he preceded her in death in April 2012.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Janice Ward, Southport; and son, Barry (Sherrill) Gunn, Sr., Tipton.
She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Matt Ward, Amy (Michael) Broeker, Jennifer Gunn, Barry (Lesley) Gunn, Jr., and Mike (Heather) Gunn. Her seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews will miss her reminiscing of the “old” times, family reunions, and all of her life lessons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Orval W. Gunn; and seven siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday October 16, 2020 at Carey Cemetery, 22221 State Road 37 N., Noblesville.
