Trojans dominate Greyhounds, 42-0

A long streak by the Carmel football team ended Friday when the Greyhounds traveled to Center Grove for their first Metropolitan Conference game of the season.
The Class 6A No. 1-ranked Trojans beat 6A No. 6 Carmel by the score of 42-0. The ‘Hounds were not allowed any points for the first time in 183 games. The last time Carmel was shut out was on Sept. 29, 2006, when Warren Central beat the Greyhounds 28-0.
Center Grove scored one touchdown each in the first three quarters. The Trojans got on the board with a short pass with 5:13 left in the first, then made one-yard runs into the end zone in the second and third periods. In the fourth quarter, Center Grove got two short-run touchdowns from Carson Steele, then added the sixth touchdown with 1:02 left in the game on a 30-yard run.
Carmel was held to just six first downs in the game. The Trojans totaled 404 yards of offense to the Greyhounds’ 138 yards. The ‘Hounds had 66 yards rushing, with Zach White totaling 54 yards on the ground.
Zach Osborne completed 8 of 17 passes for 66 yards. Colton Parker made three catches.
The Greyhounds are 1-2 for the season and will return home to Carmel Stadium next Friday to host Pike.
