Huskies fall to Yorktown in OT

Hamilton Heights lost a tough sectional game on Wednesday, falling to host Yorktown 43-42 in overtime at Class 3A Sectional 24.
It was a back and forth game for the entire 36 minutes. The Huskies led 10-8 after the first quarter, but the Tigers came back to go up 19-15 by halftime. Heights regained the lead by the end of the third period, going ahead 28-27. Yorktown tied the game at 37-37 at the end of regulation, then edged out the Huskies 6-5 in the extra period.
“Tough one,” said Heights coach Keegan Cherry. “Proud of how we battled.” The coach said his team definitely had the opportunity, but “just missed some opportunities down the stretch.”
MyKayla Moran led the Huskies with 17 points and seven rebounds. Bayleigh Runner scored 10 points and also had six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Jillian Osswald dished out five assists and made five steals.
“Really appreciative of our senior class and all they have done for our program,” said Cherry. “They will all be missed.”
Heights finished its season 14-11.
