Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt has announced his campaign for re-election in 2020. He has served as commissioner since 2013.

During his term, he has been recognized with four Association of Indiana Counties Awards and the Indiana Association of County Commissioners “Outstanding Team of Commissioners Award.”

His accomplishments in office include helping to secure $100 million in funding to improve traffic along the State Road 37 corridor, helping to open Lowe’s Way as an alternative route to access Keystone Parkway, participating as part of a team to bring Ivy Tech Community College to Hamilton County, helping with the expansion of the county jail, and bringing the historic 1868 Bell Ford Covered Bridge to Hamilton County.

According to Heirbrandt, by making sound fiscal decisions for taxpayers, Hamilton County is managed with a balanced budget and strong cash reserves. The county now has a taxpayer savings of $25 million over 25 years in new energy efficiency initiatives and currently maintains 600 miles of roads and 300 bridges.

According to Heirbrandt, many of these accomplishments are rooted in thousands of conversations with various community members.

“I’ve always communicated consistently and honestly with residents. When people come together with new ideas and new solutions, we have a greater impact,” Heirbrandt said.

Moving forward, Heirbrandt says he will continue to focus on providing top-notch resources for public safety, improving road conditions and mitigating traffic, and finding new taxpayer savings.

“In order for our community to succeed, we need to be proactive about providing the best resources while maintaining fiscal responsibility,” Heirbrandt said.

Heirbrandt and his wife, Gina, have lived in Hamilton County for almost 30 years. They are the proud parents to Blake, and twins, Ethan and Evan. Mark is active in the Catholic community and is a member of Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Parish in Westfield. For more information about the Heirbrandt campaign, visit markheirbrandt.com.
